A sports complex with more than one sport needed booking that handles regulars (the same courts every week), walk-up guests without accounts, and full courts with people waiting for a spot.

All or nothing
A multi-court, multi-week booking either succeeds completely or not at all. Every slot is checked first, and a database constraint is the final guard against two people racing for the same court.

Guests are tracked by email with explicit ownership checks, so a guest can only ever see or cancel their own bookings.
