01 — The brief

Attendance on paper, payroll in spreadsheets and budgets in someone's head. The company needed one system that a site timekeeper, a payroll clerk, a driver, an engineer and the owner could all use, each seeing only what their role allows, on whatever device they have on site.

WORKFORCE

  • Clock in/out checked against each project's GPS geofence
  • Split shifts, shift windows and overlap protection per person
  • Overtime and leave requests with approval workflows
  • The database closes forgotten sessions every 5 minutes

PAYROLL

  • SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG deductions, manual overrides and loans
  • Half-day support, custom holidays and holiday rates
  • Separate 15th/30th payroll run for office staff
  • Rate history and salary grades per role, branded PDF payslips and reports

OPERATIONS

  • Projects with phases, photos, budgets and a live budget overview
  • Expenses, suppliers, price presets, purchase requests and BOQ materials
  • Driver fuel tickets with receipt tracking, charged to the right project
  • Equipment registry, preventive maintenance, inspections and job orders

    Moving every account to real database security, live

    We migrated every user to Supabase Auth and turned on 84 row-level security policies while the company kept working. A script tries every write as every account; the final run passed 167 checks with 0 failures.

    Payroll people can trust

    Payroll arithmetic lives in a pure, unit-tested engine, separate from screens and network code, so a pay-rule change is proven by tests before anyone is paid with it.

    Attendance that can't overlap

    A database trigger refuses overlapping time entries for the same person across any project, so double-counted hours are impossible, not just unlikely.
